The Vector of Malaria: A Study of the Role Of Mosquitoes
The bite of an infected insect mosquito can spread Malaria. This is a life-threatening and serious disease. The primary vector for malaria transmission is the mosquito. This means that they transmit the disease to others. According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2021), malaria is one of the world’s most devastating diseases, with around 219 million cases reported in 2020.The female anopheles mosquito is the most commonly known vector for malaria and is responsible t all cases of transmission (Lawniczak et al., 2016). This mosquito is found in both tropical and subtropical areas. They bite at dusk or dawn. Anopheles mosquitoes are able to survive in standing water areas such as rice paddies and ponds. A mosquito can transmit malaria to others by biting an infected individual. The mosquito then bites the new host and transmits the parasite, which then replicates in the person’s red blood cells and causes the symptoms of malaria (Faucon et al., 2021). Cont….
