Molecular genetics studies the structure, functions, and transmissions of genetic material. This field is relatively young, and the first major advances were made in it in the 1960s and 1950s. The old molecular genetics paradigm was based on a handful of basic technologies and techniques, such as Southern blotting and restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP), (Bhattacharya et. al., 2022). These techniques were the basis for much of early field research and allowed scientists to make important discoveries. RFLP is one of the earliest techniques used in the field. It relied upon the analysis of genetic variation within a particular population.
