In terms of diet planning, the first goal for athletes is Nutrient density and Diet Prescription
A key factor in success for athletes is nutrition. Therefore, athletes must ensure that their diet plan includes nutrient density. The ratio of nutrition to food calories is called nutrient density. This is the ratio of nutrients to calories in food. Because athletes need to be able to get the most from their food, and not just eat empty calories which could cause weight gain or other health problems, nutrient density is crucial. Nutrient-dense foods are leafy greens (whole grains), legumes, beans, seeds, nuts and fish. The diet prescription, which is personalized to each athlete’s needs, is a diet plan. This should take into account the athlete’s health and lifestyle factors, such as their age, gender, size, activity level and body composition. A Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist will usually determine the order in which a diet prescription is given (Huggins 2018, 2018). The Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist will evaluate the needs of the individual and create a personalized plan that is tailored to their lifestyle and goals. The plan could include changes in eating habits, exercise and supplement suggestions. An athlete can get a prescription from a registered dietitian or nutritionist. They are skilled and knowledgeable in the field of sports nutrition. ()Clarys et al., 2020. Cont…
