Unknown protein in sample: A review
Identification of unknown proteins in samples is an intricate process that requires expertise and care. There are many approaches that can be employed depending on how complex the sample is and what the goal is. The steps include determining the amount of protein in the sample, altering it to allow for analysis and analysing its chemical and structural characteristics. Mass spectrometry (MS), which is commonly used to quantify an unidentified protein in a sample, is the best (Frenz et. al. 2016,). To determine the amount of the protein, other techniques, such as chromatography and enzyme-linked immunesorbent assay, can be used (Amara et. al., 2018,).
