Improve Service Value Hospitals

A hospital’s value-added services are the extra benefits that it can offer its patients, beyond their basic medical care. They can be as simple or complex as personalized care from nurses and doctors, easier access and greater comfort, or even more amenities. According to a study published in the Journal of Health Services Research & Policy in 2019, value-added services are an important factor in patient satisfaction and can lead to improved health outcomes (Tran et al., 2019). Hospitals need to be able to add value to their patients’ services for several reasons. Patients have more choices today and seek out high-quality care. Value-added services can help hospitals stand out from the crowd and increase their patient base. In addition, patients can be more satisfied with their care, leading to loyalty and better word-of-mouth marketing for hospitals. Value-added services may also reduce healthcare costs over the long term, since patients who feel satisfied are less likely need to have additional hospitalizations or medical intervention (Tran and al., 2019).
