EVM for Acquisitions

A study in the Journal of Management in Engineering in 2020 found that “earned value management” is a method of project management to track and measure project performance, cost and schedule. The technique is commonly used to complete projects on-time and within budget in the field of acquisitions. Another article published in the Journal of Business Research in 2019 found that “EVM can be an effective tool for managing acquisitions projects, particularly when used in conjunction with other project management techniques” (Kim & Lee, 2019). EVM is not without its challenges. The authors pointed out that EVM requires strong communication, collaboration, and that everyone involved in a project’s progress be aware that EVM is important.
