Rapid Global Population Growth: Causes and Significance
In the modern era, the world’s population has seen a drastic increase in growth. Although it took many thousands of years to achieve 1 billion people, the number reached 2 billion in just 130 years (Lutz and co., 2016). There are a few factors that have contributed to this rapid growth. The first is the contribution of medical technologies to increasing population.
